Composer, bandleader, and saxophonist Ryan Middagh presents A Merry Bari Christmas, a big band tribute to the holiday season built around the distinct voice of the baritone saxophone. Inspired by his own family traditions, Middagh drew a parallel between the camaraderie of a big band and the bonds of a family gathering, using that connection to guide the record's spirit.

The album brings together five baritone saxophonists, including Middagh himself alongside Jeff Coffin, Michael Dease, Mark Douthit, and Jimmy Bowland, each featured throughout in solos, textures, and ensemble writing. Rather than offer a conventional holiday record, Middagh reworks familiar songs with fresh arrangements that highlight his skill as a writer, giving well known material new character while still honoring its roots. The result is a collection that Middagh hopes captures the warmth and joy of the season for listeners.
